The 2025 China-Ethiopia Industry Matchmaking Event in Addis Ababa spotlighted logistics and trade collaboration under BRICS, a bloc of emerging economies — Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. A key highlight was the BRICS freight route linking Xiamen, Addis Ababa, and São Paulo, which has already enabled $750 million in trade since 2022. Ethiopian officials urged Chinese investors to boost manufacturing and logistics capacity to position Ethiopia as Africa’s trade hub, while China pledged continued support in building value chains, digital infrastructure, and critical logistics networks. A cooperation deal was also signed to create a platform for BRICS enterprises to tap into Ethiopia’s growing market.
