Ethiopia has announced a major logistics infrastructure initiative with a call for private investors to develop the
Indode Intermodal Rail Terminal, Dry Port, and Logistics Centre near Addis Ababa. Positioned along the key
trade corridor to the Port of Djibouti, the project aims to enhance the country’s freight capacity and streamline
containerized trade, which accounts for over 90% of Ethiopia’s maritime traffic. Delivered under a Design-Build
Finance-Operate-Maintain (DBFOM) model, the project marks one of Ethiopia’s largest transport investments.
This move supports the country’s broader reform agenda to modernize logistics by opening the sector to
private and foreign participation.
